Hello, I am wondering where can Kantè’s ߒߞߏ ߞߘߐߦߌߘߊߟߊ߲ ߥߟߊ߫ ߝߛߊ߬ߙߌ߬ߟߊ߲ ߤߊߡߌ߲߫ ߞߘߐߝߐߟߊ߲ [The N’ko Dictionary] be bought? Thanks
Kantè’s monolingual dictionary exists in a few different editions/iterations, but I’m not sure if any of them are actually available for sale currently. The have historically been printed in batches and then sold, but there isn’t one publisher from which you can say that it is “in print”.
There are copies in a few libraries in the US.
Baba Mamadi Diané, who typeset and/or edited many of Kantè’s books (including an expanded version of the handwritten dictionary) and who runs Kanjamadi, would be able to point you various bookshop owners.
Otherwise, the best way to find a copy would likely be to approach N’ko teachers and authors directly and ask them. I believe that I previously put you in touch with a teacher in NYC, right?
Yes, thank you very much!
