Salaam aleykum! N tɔgɔ ko Amelia

Salaam aleykum/Bonjour/Hi everyone,

My name is Amelia and I’m a Manding/Bambara learner living in Washington, DC (I’m from Michigan originally). Aside from a few words I picked up on a brief trip to Mali in 2012, I’m brand new to the language. I became passionate about African languages after studying Wolof and spending a semester in Dakar in college. Since then I’ve tried to keep up with Wolof while living in the US, and to encourage others to learn and appreciate African languages. I’m thrilled to have found these amazing resources for Manding, and I’m looking forward to learning another beautiful, interesting, and important West African language!

I dansɛ, Amelia!

Thank you so much for jumping into the forum and introducing yourself before even I did so! Haha

The whole idea of having this forum is kind of new thing, but I am really hoping that it can serve both in terms of building knowledge about Manding as a reference for anyone AND that it can help patrons of An ka taa connect with me and one another as the project grows and evolves.

Your feedback about the beta version of the online course has already been super helpful and I’m looking forward to talking with you about it all soon! I ni ce, i ni baraji!

PS - Hope you can teach me some proper Wolof down the road too
