A student asked how to say “parent” as in the sense of “the parents of the child”
It’s a not a one-to-one cultural concept, but to express the idea of “parents” as in the sense of the people that led someone being born, you could say “bangebagaw” which literally means “birthers” from the verb bange.
The other term that comes to mind is mansa (sometimes spelled masa), which more technically refers to anyone of the parental generation or older within a family that has some authority over a younger generation: mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, etc.
