Some Manding language news that I rounded up for you all:
- Readers in Ajami — A BU project to create digital readers — collections of texts and multimedia – for studying African languages written in Ajami (i.e., Arabic script). Includes Mandinka from the Senegambia region.
- “Word as Nourishment: Mandinka Proverbs of Senegambia” — A research article that draws on some proverbs from a Mandinka Ajami document.
- GoogleTranslate Adds “Dyula” (sic, Dioula) and N’ko (sic, Manding written in N’ko script) — I plan on testing and reviewing these new additions ASAP. For my previous review of GoogleTranslate for Latin-based Bambara, click here.
- Bambara MT — A web-based app that can translate texts from a range of languages into Bambara and then turn it into automated speech. I plan on testing this ASAP.
- Bambara ASR — An web-based app for automatic speech recognition of Bambara language audio files. I plan on testing this ASAP.
