Help getting Keyman keyboard plugin to work?

Continuing the discussion from Introductions:

I’m sharing this question of @BruceWhitehouse as its own topic in case there is anyone here in the Forum that uses the Keyman keyboard solution from SIL (I don’t) and can chime in with help…

Bruce – feel free to share some more details here if you want…

I also can’t get the keyman with special characters. It just wouldn’t appear one I have installed it. The Burkina one does but it doesn’t have any special characters:(

I ni ce, @Caroline !

For the “Clavier du Burkina”, have you tried the following “typing sequences/shortcuts” for the Latin extended characters?

Type the two keys in order (first the symbol, then the letter), and they’ll turn into the special characters normally:

Semicolon + e → ɛ
Semicolon + o → ɔ
Comma + n → ɲ
Semicolon + n → ŋ

(Don’t put any space in between. You literally will type ;e and it will be come ɛ, etc.)

It works for me on the tester of the keyboard’s page.

Test it and let us know!

I can’t push these different buttons simultaneously. Also deinstalled it and now I can’t reinstall it anymore. Got these now but none of them seems to have the special characters

To be clear, for the “Clavier du Burkina”, you don’t type them at the same time. Type one. Then the next one. That’s what worked for me :man_shrugging:

If you are now going with “Clavier du Mali (Qwerty)”, then the method of typing the characters is different according to the documentation :grimacing: and this example of the layout which suggests a remapping and no need to do a sequence of the keys:

I am using the burkina one but not working

As per our discussion today @Caroline, I think that we concluded that software isn’t working for you :frowning: Since I don’t have a PC or use Keyman, I can’t troubleshoot more. I’d recommend that you or anyone try reaching out to Keyman via their site if you want to try to get it working. Sorry to not have better answer!
