Does anyone know how to say “benediction” in Bambara/Manding?
I’m fully aware of ‘duga’ however, that is a loanword from Arabic.
Thanks!

Hi Christy! I already commented about the slippery slope of determining which words authentically belong to a language in your post about non-Arabic alternatives to amiina, so I won’t say anything about that again here
I don’t know of any other words for “benediction” besides dugawu
, duba
, etc. This could be because the concept of a benediction in West Africa originally comes the Islamic tradition and therefore from the Arabic “d-3-a” (دعا).
