Continuing the discussion from Paki!:
In my experience, Malians like to say the compound form “sɛfan” (lit. “chicken-egg”), but I don’t think it’s a mistake to say fan by itself. It’s more about what “sounds normal/good”, I think. It might be regional because where I lived in Burkina, I recall regularly saying fan when talking about frying an egg.
Maybe this is because we also sometimes fried kamifan (‘guinea fowl egg’) too, so we needed the generic term

So I see, it’s always better to open a new Forum topic for a better overview. That’s the advantage of Forum vs Chat.
Yeah, this was a great example of what’s cool about the Forum 
Technically, we could move between chat and forum. That is, I can quote a chat message and make it a Forum topic, or a student can decide to ask a broader or more specific word question (that came up via the chat) in the Forum as a topic on their own. Maybe that would be ideal. But I think that a lot of people just want to ask directly where the interaction is happening. If that happens in the Forum topic, I can “edit/curate” topics by splitting them apart myself. For chat, that is more complicated.
